Sarah Jessica Parker has expressed outrage at tabloid reports which detailed the identity of the surrogate mother who is carrying her daughters.
The Sex and the City star said the media intrusion, which included the naming of the individual, had been “extraordinary and unprecedented”.
“The most unsavoury things have been done," she added.
Sarah and husband Matthew Broderick confirmed they were expecting twins by a surrogate last month.
A number of unflattering tabloid reports soon emerged detailing the surrogate's background.
The actress, who has a six-year-old son of her own with Matthew, claimed their surrogate’s computer had been hacked and she had received threats.
“She’s had friends threatened and family threatened and she’s had family of friends threatened,” Sarah told Access Hollywood.
Sarah, who plays Carrie Bradshaw in the Sex and the City franchise, added that she and her husband were “beyond comfortable” with their surrogate.
She denied accusations that their choice had been "reckless" or "cavalier".
The couple, who married in 1997, are expected to welcome their twin daughters in the summer.
