Cynthia Nixon, star of Sex and the City, has confirmed her engagement to girlfriend Christine Marinoni.
Cynthia, who began dating Christine, an education activist, in 2003, made the announcement yesterday at a gay marriage rally in New York.
The actress was pictured wearing an engagement ring at the event, which she attended alongside her Sex and the City co-star Kristin Davis.

Last year, Cynthia, who plays Miranda Hobbs in the TV series, said she and Christine would only get married if it became legal in New York.
"I don’t really want to get married to get married pretend,” she said.
“I think we’d like to do it in a real, actual, legal way that the state would recognise."
The actress has two children from her former marriage to Danny Mozes, which ended shortly before she began dating Christine.
