Inside Robert Pattinson's 23rd Birthday Bash - Pictures

Robert Pattinson kept leading lady Kristen Stewart close by his side as he celebrated his 23rd birthday with friends and family on Wednesday night, it's claimed.

As Entertainmentwise reported previously, the Twilight heartthrob rang in his 24th year with a meal and drinks at the Global Grill and Satay Bar in Vancouver, where he is currently filming vampire sequel New Moon.

As well as Kristen and other cast-mates, and longtime pal Sam Bradley, Rob's parents were also in town for the ocassion.

"Robert's parents were all smiles," a source tells Us magazine. "They were kind of quiet but very gracious and polite.

"You could easily see where Robert got his reserved demeanor from."

After enjoying their meal in a private booth upstairs, Rob and Kristen reportedly adjourned to the adjoining Afterglow lounge for drinks.

"Robert and Kristin are a very, very smart couple," the source continues. "They're friendly and playful but never affectionate in public. Never. Never any hugs or kisses. It's just not their style."

Quite where Kristen's boyfriend, actor Michael Angarano, figures in all this, we're not sure.

Just before 1am Rob was escorted out of the restaurant where he was ambushed by a throng of fans and paparazzi who were tipped off as to his whereabouts via Twitter.

Then it was into a taxi – where Kirsten was already waiting for him.
