Amy Winehouse apparently reckons some fun in the sun on her island paradise would be just the thing to sort out fellow lost-it Britney Spears.

While on a (supposedly) working holiday on the Caribbean island of St Lucia, the addled singer has been telling holidaymakers that she wants to befriend the Womanizer star, who is currently on the road with her Circus act.

“I was at a beach bar and Amy went past pissed, saying she would love to give Britney a piggy-back down the beach,” a source tells Britain's Daily Star newspaper.

Who knows whether Amy feels a genuine affinity with Britney, or whether she was too drunk to know what she was saying.

Amy's father Mitch recently spoke out about his renewed fears for his daughter's now that she has found a new poison – alcohol.

He said: "After she almost died twice from drug related problems, to see her walking, smiling - she has progressed so much.

“But now, if it's alcohol instead of hard drugs - I don't think I can go through that again. I've decided to distance myself, and whatever happens, happens. It's her life. It's her career. It's her decision."
