Here's Mariah Carey following in the Oscar-winning footsteps of Nicole Kidman, Charlize Theron, Hilary Swank et al by getting an unflattering makeover for a new film role.
The normally glamourous star is almost unrecognisable as a dowdy social worker called Mrs Weiss in upcoming flick Precious.
The singer - whose most high-profile acting role to date was in the 2001 turkey Glitter - achieves her downtrodden look with a brunette wig, little make-up and a puffy face.
The film, out in the US later this year, is based on the novel 'Push', by Sapphire.

Mariah as Mrs Weiss in Precious
Set in Harlem in 1987, it tells the story of overweight, illiterate New York teen Claireece "Precious" Jones who, when she falls pregnant with her second child at the age of 16, is invited to enroll in an alternative school in the hope it will transform her life.
Newcomer Gabourey 'Gabby' Sidibe - who had never acted before - plays the title role after director Lee Daniels discovered her on the streets of the city.
