How many umbrellas does it take to keep Victoria Beckham looking pristine in the rain? Two of course!

That's how many it took on Tuesday night as she was escorted from her hotel to a waiting car in a drizzly New York.

Dressed in a 50s-style A-line skirt, towering heals and with her white bra showing through a sheer grey sweatshirt, the former Spice Girl finished off her rain-unfriendly look with a pair of shades.

The previous evening Victoria had joined a host of other fashion forward stars at the Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in the city.
