Chris Brown reportedly enjoyed a low key birthday celebration with family and friends earlier this week, as girlfriend Rihanna made her return to the public spotlight.
Chris, who is alleged to have attacked the singer during an altercation in February, turned 20 yesterday (May 5).
But as the R&B hitmaker was spending time with family in Virgina, Rihanna made her first high-profile public return at a fashion gala in New York.
The singer wowed friends and guests at the Costume Institute Gala on Monday by sporting a bold Tuxedo power suit.

According to People, Rihanna later joined Kanye West onstage at an after party for a performance of the rapper's hit Say You Will.
Rihanna is also believed to have sung her hit chart-topping song Live Your Life for partygoers.
Chris and Rihanna are alleged to have become involved in a physical altercation in Los Angeles in February after an argument spun out of control.
Chris pleaded not guilty to charges of assault and making criminal threats against the singer during a court appearance last month.
The singer is due to appear in court again later this month. He faces up to five years in jail if found guilty.
