Dina Lohan is trying to persuade troubled daughter Lindsay to return to rehab, it's claimed.

Reports that the actress' life is spiralling out of control began in earnest following her split from lesbian lover Samantha Ronson in March.

Along with the tales of wild partying and self-destructive bahaviour, various family members and unidentified 'friends' have voiced their concern for the wellbeing of the Mean Girls star.

One person who is trying to help Lindsay directly is her much-maligned mother Dina, according to OK!.

The US tabloid claims the pair were overheard arguing at Lindsay’s rented house in the Hollywood Hills after Dina suggested her daughter should seek professional help.

"We’re all trying to convince Lindsay to go [to rehab],” says a relative.

“We want what’s best for her, and I don’t think she knows what that is.”

Meanwhile, Lindsay has been doing her best to laugh off recent events.
