Madonna shrugged off the recent setback in her bid to adopt a four-year-old Malawian girl with the help of a night on the town with pal Stella McCartney.
Fresh back from the African country where she learnt on Friday that her application for an interim adoption of Mercy James had been denied, the singer hooked up with the designer for dinner at Cecconi's in Mayfair, London.
Madonna and Stella's first attempt to leave the restaurant was aborted when the pair spotted the hoard of photographers waiting for them outside.

When they emerged the second time, Madge was all smiles and appeared to have reapplied her make-up in readiness for the cameras.

The pop star's adoption hopes have reportedly been lifted after learning that Mercy's family will fight attempts by the girl's biological father to take back his daughter.
