Reese Witherspoon: 'Divorce Was Humiliating'

Reese Witherspoon says that divorcing ex-husband Ryan Philippe was a "humiliating and isolating" experience.

The Walk The Line star - who is dating toyboy Jake Gyllenhaal - says that the end of her eight-year marriage was the most painful and confusing experience of her life.

Reese tells Elle magazine: "By the way, if it’s not painful, maybe it wasn’t the right decision to marry to begin with. Those are the appropriate emotions.

"When people get in your face and say, 'This will pass,' you think, are they crazy?"

She adds, "I’m never gonna feel any better than I feel right this minute and nothings ever gonna make sense again.

"And I still have moments where I’m like, nothings ever gonna make sense again."

Ryan and Reese remain civil following their 2006 breakup for the sake of their children, nine-year-old Ava and five-year-old Deacon.
