Robert Pattinson's brooding good looks are the result of too many A-list parties and red carpet moments, it has been claimed.

The actor - who is famous for playing vampire Edward Cullen in Twilight - is rarely seen smiling because he is struggling to come to terms with his new found fame, according to reports.

A close friend of Rob told E! online, "It's because [Hollywood] just so isn't his scene. All of this fame isn't what Rob's about."

After a nervously presenting an award at the Oscars, Rob made his way to several parties where he was seen chatting to Paris Hilton and Natalie Portman.

But shortly afterwards the British actor made a quick escape from Hollywood to make a promotional pit stop in Tokyo.
