Robert Pattinson spent the run up to his Oscar debut in typical low-key style, according to reports.

The Twilight star – who took to the stage at the Kodak theatre with Mamma Mia! actress Amanda Seyfried to present a montage of the year's romantic movies – was seen grabbing a bite to eat before the ceremony.

The Brit actor was spotted at Palihouse hotel in West Hollywood, despite his best efforts to go unnoticed by hiding under a red hoodie.

"He was solo and reading a book," an onlooker told E! News.

Rob then swapped his hoodie for a tux and pruned back his beard before hitting the red carpet at the 81st Academy Awards.
