Chris Brown has finally broken his silence over the alleged attack on girlfriend Rihanna that left her with what have been described as “horrific” injuries.

The 19-year-old R&B star says in a statement that he is “sorry and saddened” by what happened but stresses that media reports of the incident are “wrong.”

He also claims that he is seeking counselling from “my pastor, my mother and other loved ones.”

The statement reads:

"Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired. I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God's help, to emerging a better person.
Much of what has been speculated or reported on blogs and/or reported in the media is wrong. While I would like to be able to talk about this more, until the legal issues are resolved, this is all I can say except that I have not written any messages or made any posts to Facebook, on blogs or any place else.
Those posts or writings under my name are frauds."

Chris handed himself into police on 8 February after an alleged violent altercation with Rihanna the previous evening.

The Umbrella star received contusions and bruises to the face, a bleeding nose, split lip and bite marks on her arm as a result of the assault, according to police sources.
