Police are looking into allegations that Rihanna was forced to incorporate an eye patch into her stage costume last year after being struck in the face by boyfriend Chris Brown.
The Run It star was arrested on Sunday following an alleged violent altercation with his girlfriend on Saturday night, which left the singer with what have been described as “horrific” injuries.
Now it's emerged that the LAPD are investigating the possibility of a history of heated rows between the couple focusing on claims that Rihanna wore an eye patch last year after suffering an alleged scratched cornea.

“We’re investigating if her eye injury could have been caused by Brown," a police source tells The Sun.
“There could be an innocent explanation - but police believe Rihanna has previously refused to make a complaint against Brown. She is now being asked about her past injuries and is beginning to open up about incidents in their relationship.”
The tabloid alleges that the 20-year-old was reluctant to file a police complaint after this weekend's incident - but was persuaded to by her mum Monica.
And cops are now reportedly talking to those close to Rihanna about an alleged history of injuries.
The source contines, “We’re talking to her friends and management, who say she’s appeared with mysterious marks or injuries before, but always refused to explain what happened.
“There was one instance when she suddenly appeared with an eye patch, saying her cornea had been scratched.”
While exact dates relating to the eye injury have not been released, Rihanna wore a silver duel-encrusted eye patch for her performance at November's American Music Awards.
However, the singer appeared on the red carpet at the same event minus the eye patch and apparently injury-free.
