Jessica Simpson Says She's 'Happy' With Weight Gain

Jessica Simpson looked to have shifted some of the excess baggage when she appeared on US television yesterday.

The wannabe country singer -  alongside Kellie Pickler, LeAnn Rimes and Julianne Hough – was a guest on The Early Show to read the nominees live for the 44th Academy of Country Music Awards.

Showing plenty of leg in a fitted black skirt and heals, Jessica said she was "happy" with her curvier look.

When asked about the recent press attention surrounding her weight gain, she told the host, “I am so very happy...Everything's really great. It's all about keeping faith.”

Despite her insistence that's she content with her body shape, Jessica appeared slimmer than she did in the photos that first drew attention to her increased heft.

It's claimed the star plans on dropping 20lbs with the help of a diet and fitness regime when her tour ends in March.

So has the criticism of her extra padding gotten to Jess, or was yesterday's sleek look simply down to a flattering outfit?
