Tom Cruise's Multicultural Mishap In Brazil

Tom Cruise's knowledge of other cultures and countries was put to the test recently on a trip to Brazil - and we're sad to report that the actor failed miserably.

Earlier this week the Valkyrie star failed to impress his Brazilian fans by touting Spanish words on a promotional visit to Rio de Janeiro with his family.

According to Glamurama.com, Tom was constantly overheard saying "garcias" and "hola", not realising the native tongue of Brazil is the entirely different language of Portuguese.

The Hollywood superstar also told locals that he fell in love with Brazil after watching films about the samba and the tango which are both Argentinian dances.

Tom - who is staying at the Copacabana Palace with wife Katie Holmes and daughter Suri - took time out from work to visit the private island of plastic surgeon Dr. Ivo Pitanguy.
