Jennifer Aniston's top tip for a successful date is to avoid ordering cherry tomatoes for dinner.

The actress - who is rumoured to have been dumped by John Mayer for the second time - is adamant that if either person orders tomatoes for dinner there is bound to be a disaster of epic proportions just around the corner.

"Never order a cherry tomato!" Jen tells MTV News.

"I was on a date with this guy...there was a cherry tomato and he bit into it and it was all over my white dress.

"So that was just one side note. No cherry tomatoes!"

The actress also added that fame can be an obstacle to romance that she could do without.

She adds, "It's not fun, you could end the date and shake hands with them and realize it doesn't work, and all of a sudden you're a new couple."
