Angelina Jolie says she is more than thrilled with her Screen Actors Guild Award nomination, despite leaving the ceremony empty-handed.
The Changeling star - who lost out to Meryl Streep in the Best Actress category - insists that her ego isn't feeling bruised as an award nomination is an achievement in itself.
She tells People magazine, "It means a great deal.
"Especially because it is the people you respect and your fellow actors. You know they really understand your work when they watch it.
"They don't look at it just as a movie. They understand the technique behind performance.
"My mother Marcheline Bertrand was an actress and didn't get to have a big career, but she was so proud to be a member of SAG and so proud of her card and her union."
Meanwhile, her partner Brad Pitt - who also failed to leave with the goods on Sunday - recently played down the importance of winning awards.
