Tom Cruise: 'Katie Is An Extraordinary Mother'

Tom Cruise has praised wife Katie Holmes for being an "extraordinary mother" to their two-year-old daughter, Suri.

The Tropic Thunder star - who is currently promoting new movie Valkyrie - says that Katie and Suri are the perfect mother-daughter duo.

He tells GMTV, "She is such a happy girl and I think Kate is an extraordinary mother and very calm."

And as for the outside intrusion of the press, Tom says he is thankful that most people remain level-headed around his little one.

The actor adds, "People are very respectful, most of the time.

"We protect her but you don't want her to be sheltered in any way, and to engage in life and I think that's like any parent.

"We just keep things calm - as long as we're not worried about anything. You just do the best you can."
