Barack Obama joins forces with Spider-Man to save the day in a special tribute issue of the classic comic book.
In Amazing Spider-Man #583 the two heroes are depicted bumping fists at the end of a busy day which sees the webslinger save the president's Inauguration Day.
According to Marvel editor-in-chief Joe Quesada it was a logical reach across the aisle between politician and superhero.
"It was a natural after we learned the new president is a Spider-Man fan," he says in reference to Obama's childhood hobby of collecting Spider-Man comics.
"We thought: 'Fantastic! We have a comic-book geek in the White House'."
In the plot Spider-Man swoops in and overtakes the Secret Service as he protects nasty villain the Chameleon from spoiling the historic ceremony that takes place on January 20th, 2009.
