Barack Obama joins forces with Spider-Man to save the day in a special tribute issue of the classic comic book.
In Amazing Spider-Man #583 the two heroes are depicted bumping fists at the end of a busy day which sees the webslinger save the president's Inauguration Day.
According to Marvel editor-in-chief Joe Quesada it was a logical reach across the aisle between politician and superhero.
"It was a natural after we learned the new president is a Spider-Man fan," he says in reference to Obama's childhood hobby of collecting Spider-Man comics.
"We thought: 'Fantastic! We have a comic-book geek in the White House'."
In the plot Spider-Man swoops in and overtakes the Secret Service as he protects nasty villain the Chameleon from spoiling the historic ceremony that takes place on January 20th, 2009.
Last year republican Vice Presidential hopeful Sarah Palin received a less flattering comic book makeover – as a hockey stick-wielding Halloween which.
