Lindsay Lohan did nothing to dispel the rumours of a break up with DJ gal pal Samantha Ronson as she stepped out on the town solo.

According to US reports, while Samantha was seen moping around Beverly Hills, Lindsay was partying hard with a lady friend and her assistant at the Apple Lounge.

But onlookers say she didn't seem in high spirits and spent most of the night looking glum.

"She seemed kind of indifferent, emotionless," an onlooker told gossip blogger Perez Hilton.

"It was definitely apparent her friends were trying to cheer her up. It looked to be a 'first night back out on the town' sort of thing."

Lindsay recently denied reports of a split on her blog, insisting, "We did NOT break up!".
