Celebrity Rehab Uncovered

Migraine? Sore foot? Researching a movie role? We've heard it all...

Tuesday 06th Jan 2009

After the controversy surrounding Tara Reid's reported stint in rehab Entertainmentwise begs the question which is the worst celebrity rehab story?

To give them credit, some celebrities bite the bullet and own up to their problems but there have been a few who are clearly suffering from a severe case of embarassment.

Eva Mendes' rep skirted around the actress' reasons for rehab saying that she had been, "working hard for the past year and made a positive decision to take some much-needed time off to proactively attend to some personal issues that, while not critical, she felt deserved some outside professional support."

Meanwhile, Steven Tyler blamed his time in rehab on a foot injury: "To have your feet done, to have your leg done, you have to be on narcotics.

"You have to be on sleep aids at night. I don't know about (bandmate) Joe (Perry), but I was off and running and I didn't like the me that was me."

And not forgetting shrinking violet Mary Kate Olsen who was briefly admitted to rehab for an eating disorder, which her publicist failed to confirm.

Shawn Southwick King - wife of TV presenter Larry King  - reportedly sought help for migraines: "Shawn is in rehab for medication issues related to her chronic migraine problem."

And finally party girl Tara Reid has been in and out of the news this week for allegedly teaming up with the Promises Treatment Centre in Malibu to create positive press for both parties.

Yet a rep for the centre firmly denies any involvement with Tara for publicity reasons.

Britney Spears checked into rehab three times during an eventful week in February 2007 which saw her shave off all her hair. It was third time lucky, however, and Britney stayed put at Promises clinic for nearly a full month. The singer later said she was forced into rehab by her family and manager and did not have a drug or alcohol dependency. (WENN)
