Katie Holmes proved she is friendly and festive after popping into her apartment block's annual Christmas party.

The All My Sons star reportedly took the time to get to know her neighbours in the downtown New York complex she shares with husband Tom Cruise.

And although it was a brief encounter for party guests, Katie received rave reviews from the residents in their lavish block.

"She was very nice, even though she always has the bodyguard with her," a source tells Page Six. 

"She only stayed for about two minutes to make small talk with some of her neighbours on the way to her waiting SUV."
