Britney Spears turns 27 today but whilst other twenty-somethings would be out celebrating, the pop star got an early night to prepare for her performance on U.S show Good Morning America.

The singer spent her birthday eve indoors getting some rest, whilst mum Lynne and dad Jamie left their New York hotel to hit the town instead.

It's all work and no play for the Piece Of Me star as she has kept up a gruelling rehearsal schedule ahead of her hotly-anticipated US performance today.

Britney will be following up her disastrous European shows, by taking to the stage at The Big Apple Circus in Manhattan for Good Morning America.

It's a world away from Britney's old partying ways.
