Christina Aguilera, Leona Lewis, Pink and Rihanna added some A-list glamour to the 2008 American Music Awards.

But it was R&B singer Chris Brown who stole the show at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, picking up three awards for Artist of the Year and favourite male artist in the Pop or Rock Music and Soul/Rhythm and Blues categories.

And his girlfriend Rihanna didn't do so badly herself, walking away with the favourite female artist in the Pop or Rock Music and Soul/Rhythm and Blues categories.

Mariah Carey triumphed with the Honorary award, and Alicia Keys won favourite album in both pop and soul categories.

Leona and Pink both looked equally stunning in sparkling gowns as they glided down the red carpet arm-in-arm.

But Formula 1 champ Lewis Hamilton kept a firm grip on his Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger as they posed for photos together. 

Disney stars Miley Cyrus, The Jonas Brothers, Ashley Tisdale and Demi Lovato were also there to celebrate Miley turning sweet 16.
