Charlize Theron, Lindsay Lohan and Kylie Minogue were just some of the A-list stars to be out-shone by a fireworks display six times bigger than the Beijing Olympics spectacular. 

The £1.5billion Hotel Atlantis on the man-made Palm Jumeirah Island resort in Dubai made sure there was no expense spared for the posh bash to celebrate its opening.

Kylie treated the star-studded audience to a forty-minute performance including her hit song I Should Be So Lucky, for which she reportedly received a £1.5 million pay-out for her trouble.
