It was ladies night when New York city raised their glasses in honour of Nicole Kidman, Tyra Banks and Fergie at the 2008 Glamour Women Of The Year Awards.

Nicole - who is in town to promote her new film, Australia - paraded a L'Wren Scott cream sheath dress down the red carpet.

And the Oscar-winning actress was delighted with her Women of the Year award for helping fight violence against women.

"It's such a privilege. I feel a little overwhelmed," she said to USA Today.

Joining Nicole in Glamour’s annual celebration were top ladies including Natalie Portman, Kate Bosworth, America Ferrera, Taylor Swift, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Debra Messing, among many others.

And Fergie - showing off her curves in a white and silver Michael Kors number - turned the red carpet chatter to President-elect Barack Obama.

"Change is among us. People are definitely in a better mood this week," she gushed.

Other winners of at this year’s ceremony included Hillary Clinton and Jane Goodall, as well as Tyra Banks, U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, athletes Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh, artist Kara Walker, human rights activists Nujood Ali and Shada Nasser and Chanel CEO Maureen Chiquet.
