Britney Spears pulled a double whammy at the MTV Europe Music Awards last night, taking home two gongs.

The pop princess was unable to attend the awards ceremony in Liverpool but still won Act of 2008 and Best Album for Blackout. 

Britney thanked her fans in a recorded video message and explained that her absence was due to a hectic schedule, including filming the video for her upcoming single Circus.

The former troubled singer also wowed the crowds with her mesmerizing comeback at the Video Music Awards earlier this year by taking home three moonmen.  

Britney put in a surprise appearance on stage at Madonna's Sticky & Sweet tour last night.
