Selena Gomez is hot on the heels of Miley Cyrus as Disney bosses announce plans to take her television show to the big screen.

The actress – who stars in the Wizards of Waverly Place – is coming to a cinema near you in a film version of her hit TV series.

Selena is following in the footsteps of fellow Disney princess Miley Cyrus - aka Hannah Montana - who has received movie backing, and Hilary Duff whose show Lizzie McGuire was also made into a film.

Selena tells MTV News, “In case you haven't watched the show, it deals with a family of wizards whose kids have magical powers.”
