Angelina Jolie was barely able to contain her emotions on a trip to Afghanistan last week.
The Changeling star - who is the Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations - was fighting to hold back the tears after spending two days in the country.
The sight of hundreds of war inflicted families suffering from poverty was too much for the award winning actress to handle, as she reportedly broke down in tears.
Angelina said, “Since the fall of the Taliban in 2001 more than 5 million Afghans have returned home.
“Afghanistan has been struggling to absorb these massive returns.
"These families have been displaced for nearly 30 years and many of them face difficulties including food, shelter and basic services such as healthcare and education.
“They have suffered so much yet they remain gracious.”
Angelina left her six children under the care of super-dad Brad Pitt in Berlin.
