Britney Spears, Leona Lewis, Beyonce, and Christina Aguilera are preparing for a race to the UK number one spot.

The former chart toppers are expected to face the toughest challenge yet as their singles hit stores on the same day - November 3.

HMV spokesman Gennaro Castaldo tells The Sun, “We haven’t had a heavyweight chart battle like this for a while. It’s wide open but you have to fancy Britney, perhaps just ahead of Leona.”

Britney Spears seems to have the edge as thousands of fans are backing her much-hyped comeback.

Contender Leona holds first place for fresh young thing but with 'veteran' talents Christina, Beyonce and Britney defending their corners it's anyone's guess who'll win.
