X FACTOR: The Final 24

This week saw tears and tantrums as the judges took no prisoners in the first week of bootcamp.

If contestants thought that they could relax having passed the first round of auditions they were mistaken.

182,000 people auditioned to be the next X Factor winner and now the judges have narrowed it down to a concise 24.  

After stage one of boot-camp 150 contestants had to pick one song and learn it in 24-hours.

In stage two each contestant had to perform their chosen song and then wait to learn their fate.

Laura White from Bolton impressed the judges with her rendition of The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face and Louis Walsh declared she was one of the best singers they had heard that day.

Yet her second day choice - Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black - left the judges unimpressed and after that many other contestants followed suit also lacking any star quality.

As the Judges were deciding all the contestants’ fates Simon Cowell confidently declared, “I know who is going to win!”

The hopefuls were split up into three rooms and the judges went into each room and revealed if they were going or staying.

Cheryl Cole is working with the girls, Dannii Minogue has the over 25s, Louis has the groups and Simon is going to be working with the boys.

Next week sees the final 24 become the final 12.
