Janet Jackson was rushed to hospital after falling ill last night – just hours before she was due to perform a concert in Montreal, Canada.

The singer was running a sound check when she “got suddenly ill” and had to cancel her show immediately.

She was taken straight to hospital just before she was set to take to the stage as part of her Rock Witchu tour - her first in seven years.

The R&B star is being monitored by medics at a nearby hospital, according to a statement released by W&W Public Relations.

No further details have been issued about the singer's current condition at the time of going to press.
