Reports claim that Lindsay Lohan is so set on Barack Obama getting elected as president that she offered her assistance to help his campaign – but he declined.
The Mean Girls star is said to have wanted to encourage youngsters to vote Obama but was turned down because of her history of a drug and alcohol abuse.
"[She] is not exactly the kind of high-profile star who would be a positive for us," a source close to the Democrat party tells the Chicago-Sun Times.
And now political rival John McCain has ridiculed Barack’s decision to shun Lindsay.
"So let me get this straight - they turned away Lindsay Lohan, but Barack Obama has friends like unrepentant terrorist Bill Ayers and convicted felon Tony Rezko? Maybe LiLo is just too upstanding for Barack Obama," a McCain spokesperson tells TMZ.
Lindsay recently accused McCain's running-mate, vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin, of being a homophobe.
The actress wrote on her blog:
I really cannot bite my tongue anymore when it comes to Sarah Palin. Is it a sin to be gay? Should it be a sin to be straight? Or to use birth control? Or to have sex before marriage? Or even to have a child out of wedlock?
Is our country so divided that the Republicans' best hope is a narrow minded, media obsessed homophobe?
We know where Lindsay stands on gay rights then.
