Britney Spears is set to perform live on the X-Factor in December after a four year absence from British shores.

The pop princess is being given the opportunity to show a panel of unforgiving judges and ten finalists what the X-factor truly is this winter with her new single Womaniser.

This appearance will be her first over here since her Onyx Hotel tour four years ago – so no pressure then.

A show insider says, “Everyone is thrilled. To have Britney involved is a massive coup. They expect ratings to go through the roof when her performance airs.”

Mum Lynn Spears is remaining hopeful that Britney's climb back to the top will not be like last year's tragic Video Music Awards Performance saying poetically, “We’re through the storm and looking at the sunshine.”
