'Britney Spears Was Scarred By Justin Timberlake Break-Up'

Britney Spears’ mum Lynne has spoken out about her daughter’s relationship with Justin Timberlake and how their split was far from friendly.

The pair met on set of The Mickey Mouse Club kids show and dated for four years after they headed for splitsville after rumours of Brit cheating.

Lynne suggests that the break-up was because the former couple's personalities were too alike.

She writes in her forthcoming book Through the Storm, "(The split) was a terrible thing for all involved. I wish they would have parted ways differently, rather than to hurt each other and leave all those scars.”

"They were a lot alike - perhaps too similar - and butted their strong wills together too often."

But the Spears matriarch is hopeful that the pair can remain friends.

She adds, "They have each grown in compassion and maturity. Here's hoping they can be true friends and put any leftover missing puzzle pieces together for good."
