The father of Heroes star Hayden Panettiere struck her mother three times while under the influence of alcohol, according to latest reports.

Having since been released on bail $50,000 (£25,000), former soap star Lesley has decided not to seek a restraining order on her husband Alan.

The incident occurred on Monday night, and Steve Whitmore, a spokeperson for the sheriff’s department confirms that Lesley was “struck three times” at the scene in West Hollywood, California.

He adds to OK!: "The victim did have visible injuries and we also believe alcohol was involved. That will be part of the investigation. (But) the victim also declined medical treatment.

"We don't know if the victim is going to pursue (the charges). Anytime there is a domestic allegation, the victim is offered an emergency protection order, basically a restraining order. She declined it."
