Bernie Mac has died at the age of 50 as a result of complications arising from pneumonia.
The comedian was admitted to hospital on August 1 and died early on Saturday morning his publicist has confirmed.
Mac earned two Emmy nominations for his hugely popular series The Bernie Mac Show.
He also starred in several movies including Ocean’s 13.
Mac had suffered from acidosis, an inflammatory lung disease, but that was thought to be in remission since 2005.
