Katie Holmes: 'I'm A Nerd'

We now know Tom Cruise's type...

Wednesday 06th Aug 2008

Following Victoria Beckham’s bold "I’m normal-looking" statement, her pal Katie Holmes also insists that there is nothing special about her.

The actress, who is set to star on Broadway later this year, believes she is just like everybody else, despite her glossy exterior and superstar husband Tom Cruise.

She tells OK! magazine: "I can't deny that I'm a nerd. I am who I am. I'm pretty normal, I'm not a smooth type of girl, I run into things, I trip, I spill food, I say stupid things - I really don't have it all together. But I'm working on it - I really am."

Katie also admits that going to a female only school may have contributed to her gawkiness. She adds: "In hindsight, I think going to an all-girls school meant we missed out socially.

"We came out of school and it was suddenly, 'Oh my God! Boys!' I was all about, 'How do I look? What is he thinking?'

"We weren't used to being around boys in a normal setting and seeing them as friends."

She may be a self-confessed nerd, but is that a good enough reason to excuse Katie for some of these hair-do's?
