Shia LaBeaouf will only be face charges for driving under the influence following the weekend’s horrific car crash, because the other motorist involved drove through a red light police have revealed.

The Transformers star was arrested and charged with DUI after his truck collided with another vehicle and flipped across a road in Hollywood on Sunday.

He is due in court next month to face a misdemeanour DUI charge, but he won't be charged with any further motoring offences.

After an investigation, the Los Angeles Sheriff's office has announced the motorist LaBeouf hit was responsible for the smash. A spokesperson tells TMZ LaBeouf "was not at fault".

The 22-year old remains in hospital after undergoing surgery on his hand following the smash, although his lawyers insist he'll be back working on the Transformers 2 set within a month.

He was visited at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Tuesday by his mother Shayna, who told reporters: "He's doing fine."
