Shia LaBeouf spoke about his problem with alcohol in a frank interview shortly before his DUI arrest.

The Transformers actor described how his relationship with his ex-heroin addict father – they “would drink together and smoke together” -  has affected his attitude to boozing.

"It's not something that is conducive to being a role model — no iconic actors that I know of have problems like that," he tells the September issue of Details.

"And I don't know how to do it like a gentleman. I don't know how to have one drink."

LaBeouf was charged with misdemeanor DUI after his truck collided with another car in West Hollywood on Sunday.

In November last year he was arrested over a drunken late-night spat at a Chicago Walgreens.
