Britney Spears is on the hunt for a girlfriend, according to reports.
Despite rumours of sapphic encounters in the past, the lonely singer is said to be after some female company rather than a red-hot lesbian romance.
"Britney is desperate for some female companionship," a Spears family insider tells Life & Style.
"She's tired of being stuck in the house all the time and having her father tag along everywhere."
Britney has reportedly been distancing herself from her co-conservator father, Jamie, lately - which basically leaves her with no close confidants says the insider.
"I can't think of anyone who's close to her," continues the source.
"I think Jamie saw what was happening to his daughter and went into this emergency lockdown mode, shutting out her friends. But that's a lonely way to live."
A psychiatrist who has never met Britney reckons that the recovering pop wreck's isolation may be bad for her health.
"It's unhealthy because one way people learn about their lives and decide to make changes for the better is to get outside input and perspective," says Dr. Keith Ablow.
"A true friend could be a valued part of her life."
