Miley Cyrus has announced that she intends to remain a virgin until she marries.

The 15-year-old Disney star's squeaky-clean image has taken a battering this year thanks to a series of so-called 'photo scandals.'

She provoked outrage with a topless photoshoot for Vanity Fair, then came the suggestive MySpace pictures and, most recently, snaps of the starlet posing in a wet T-shirt in the shower were posted on an internet forum.

But – despite all appearances of her burgeoning sexuality - she insists she is still innocent when it comes to sex - and she hopes to stay chaste.

The pop star has confirmed the ring she wears at all times is a purity ring that symbolises the promise she has made to herself and her family.

She tells TV Guide, "I like to think of myself as the girl that no one can get, that no one can keep in their hand.

"Even at my age, a lot of girls are starting to fall, and I think if (abstaining) is a commitment girls make, that's great."
