Heather Locklear has admitted herself into a rehab facility to seek treatment for anxiety and depression.
The 46-year-old star began to take medication in 2006 for her psychological ailments following her divorce from her ex-husband, Bon Jovi rocker Richie Sambora, who earlier this year endangered their daughter’s life by driving under the influence with the child in the vehicle.
And after enduring a series of personal trials this year, she has agreed to heed doctors' orders and re-evaluate her medical condition at an in-patient treatment facility.
A source tells People: "She wanted to feel better and get to the bottom of what was troubling her. She's had a rough year."
A spokesperson for the star confirms: "Heather has been dealing with anxiety and depression. She requested an in-depth evaluation of her medication and entered into a medical facility for proper diagnosis and treatment. This is a confidential medical matter and no further statement will be released."
Locklear's current beau, 48-year-old former Melrose Place co-star Jack Wagner, adds: "Anyone who has the courage to seek help in order to live a healthy life gets my support 110 percent."
The actress was targeted in a hoax emergency call made in March by a man claiming to be a doctor, who told authorities Locklear was a suicide risk.
