Wayne Rooney and his new wife Coleen have shunned signing an “unromantic” pre-nuptial deal.
The childhood sweethearts tied the knot in a £5 million wedding in Italy earlier this month, but despite Wayne’s projected earnings from his soccer career totalling £100 million his pals say he has an old fashioned approach to marriage.
One tells the Mail On Sunday, “We asked Wayne if he was going to arrange to have something in place to protect his fortune but he said it was not something he and Coleen had talked about.
“Coleen was also against the idea and said she thought it was terribly unromantic and neither of them wanted their day to be overshadowed by a legal document that would determine what would happen if they split up.”
“Wayne and Coleen have had their problems along the way but they married because they love each other and it’s as simple as that.
“Wayne thinks he’s the luckiest boy in the world to be with Coleen. It never occurred to him that he should think about protecting his assets.
“He’s quite old-fashioned about things and thinks what’s his is now hers.”
