James McAvoy admits that he “got a lot of satisfaction” from being on the receiving end of Angelina Jolie's punches while filming new movie Wanted.
But that's not to say that his male pride didn't also take a beating.
“I don’t think in that scene my character threw a punch in the script,” the actor tells Entertainmentwise.
“Then in the film the character [of Wesley] says ‘I’m going to kick your effing ass!’ and swings for her. That was completely added because I felt completely undermined as a man, and thought I should try.
"But I completely fail to do that and she ends up beating me even more!”
Despite his failed attempts to regain some on-screen dignity, sparing with the gorgeous Jolie wasn't all about his bruised ego.
“Swinging punches is fine, but for some reason the best part of a fight scene for an actor is taking a hit and making it believable, so I got a lot of satisfaction from that,” he adds.
