JK Rowling Named Highest Earning Celebrity

Harry Potter creator JK Rowling topped the celebrity earnings league last year with a massive £150 million.

The author beat off competition from American chat show queen Oprah Winfrey, who chalked up £138 million, and golfer Tiger Woods, who had to content himself with a meagre £57 million.

However, the list of the most powerful celebrities published by Forbes’ magazine actually placed Oprah above Rowling, as it also takes into account of  media profile.

This meant British soccer star David Beckham was named as the fifth most powerful celebrity in the world.
