Prince William will learn how to battle drug runners amongst other things when he undertakes a two month crash course in the British Navy.
The heir to the British throne will serve on frigate HMS Iron Duke in the Caribbean, where his main duties will include boarding suspicious vessels to search them for drugs and guns.
Rear Admiral Bob Cooling explains, “It will be down to the discretion of the commanding officer. But it's hoped he will take part in all aspects of life on board. He might even be armed as a precaution."
William, who received his RAF wings in April, is undertaking the posting as part of his preparation to become the Head of the Armed Forces.
Cooling adds, “He will keep exactly the same daily routine as any junior officer on board.
"He will bunk with other young officers – probably in a four-berth cabin. It is not an en-suite so he will be making the walk up the passageway to the heads just the same as any other young officer does."
