Sharon Stone has apologised for her comments towards China, stating that she is deeply sorry over the insensitive remarks made about how the country’s earthquakes were a result of bad karma over their treatment of Tibet.

In a statement, the Basic Instinct star says: "Due to my inappropriate words and acts during the interview, I feel deeply sorry and sad about hurting Chinese people.

"I am willing to take part in the relief work of China's earthquake, and wholly devote myself to helping affected Chinese people."

China's Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang has acknowledged the apology, stating, "We hope that as an actress she should contribute to our two peoples' mutual trust, understanding and friendship."

  • freedom of speech is one thing, having class while exercising that option is another. She definitely did not exercise the latter.

  • I choose to forgive her as long as we have to live with flies! We Chinese are the most generious, and we forgive the unforgivable! We should and will accept her apology.

  • She did not hurt all the Chinese people.I love my country, my people.I don't think we should scold her. China Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang's comments really humiliated our nation.Just think about that "Could a nation comment on a adult-movie-star"?We are a developing superpower country. Chinese people must be open-minded. If we always think who should be punished or forgivable. What will happen to our country in the future? China is not Germany(Nazi) or Russia(Stalin) or Rome emp
